PREP FOR SPRAY
A little preparation is the secret to an even, lasting glow.
BEFORE THE SESSION
1. SHOWER AND EXFOLIATE
- Exfoliate your skin thoroughly to prepare for the spray tan. Skin naturally renews approximately every 28 days, with 25% exfoliating each week, and the spray tan adheres to this top layer.
- Avoid bar soap, high-pH shower products, or in-shower moisturizers as they hinder the DHA (the tanning agent) from working effectively.
- Avoid activities that cause sweating or excessive moisture before your session, as this can streak the spray tan.
2. AVOID LOTIONS AND COSMETICS
- Do not apply lotion, moisturizers, perfume, deodorant, or makeup.
3. HAIR REMOVAL (IF NECESSARY)
- Shaving: Complete a minimum of 6 hours before the session.
- Waxing: Complete at least 2 days prior (for areas like eyebrows or bikini line).
4. WALK-INS WITHOUT PREPARATION
- Guests who haven’t followed the above steps can still spray tan; a pH balancing mitt is available to exfoliate and prep your skin.
- Your results may vary slightly without full preparation.
- Makeup can be gently removed before the session if necessary.
ON THE DAY OF THE SESSION
1. CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
- Wear dark-colored, loose-fitting clothing to avoid rubbing and smearing bronzers.
- Avoid jewelry to prevent forgetting to remove it or leaving marks.
2. PRE-TAN SKIN PREPARATION
- Arrive with clean, dry skin, with no lotion, perfume, or deodorant.
- Use the provided barrier cream generously on fingernail beds, toenail beds, and palms.
- Wear Sticky-Feet to protect your soles.
- Use the provided hair net, ensuring it sits just behind the hairline and not on your forehead.
YOUR SPRAY VISIT
UPON ARRIVAL
- A private room awaits you to undress. Some guests prefer to tan nude; many choose a dark thong or dark strapless bra. Spa undergarments are available on request.
- Bring dark, loose clothing and flip-flops to slip into afterward. Close-fitting garments, socks, and shoes can leave lines.
IN THE BOOTH
- Protect. Barrier cream for palms and nail beds, Sticky-Feet for your soles, and a hair net worn just off the forehead.
- Refresh. An Exmitt wipe, face first, then body.
- Spray. Audio instructions guide you through Prep Spray, Solution, and a hydrating Post Spray that locks in your tan.
- Your poses. Both booths guide you into each position as you go.

AFTER THE SESSION
1. FIRST 6-8 HOURS
- Avoid sweating, getting wet, or showering for at least 6-8 hours to prevent streaking or removing the DHA
- Wear loose, dark clothing to prevent streaking.
- Do not apply lotions, perfumes, or deodorants until after your first shower.
- Avoid sitting on leather or light-colored furniture. Careful of seatbelts and handbags rubbing your shoulder right after.
- Simply use a damp towel or baby wipe on the insides of your hands.
- Your team member will help you choose the right development time for your solution and color.
2. POST-SESSION SHOWER
- After 6-8 hours, rinse with lukewarm water only—no soap, and no exfoliating. Pat dry—don’t rub with the towel.
- It’s normal for the rinse water to appear brown as the cosmetic bronzer washes off, rinse until the water runs clear.
- Cosmetic bronzers are water-soluble and will not stain; any residue on clothes or sheets will wash out.
- Stay away from chemically treated pools, hot tubs, or spas for at least 24 hours.
3. SUBSEQUENT SHOWERS
- Begin using a low-pH balancing shower gel like Norvell Post-Tan Cleanser with lukewarm water.
- Avoid hot water, excessive showering, shaving, scrubs, peels, loofahs, or anything abrasive to extend the life of the tan.
- Pat dry—don’t rub with the towel.
MAINTENANCE AND EXPECTATIONS
- Longevity: Spray tans typically last 5-7 days on average.
- Moisturizing at least once a day will help the longevity of the tan. Your spray tech can show you the best moisturizers to extend your tan.
FAQS
How long will my spray tan visit take?
Whichever booth you choose, the full-body spray takes about 4 to 5 minutes, and your entire visit typically takes 8 to 15 minutes.
Do you offer airbrush tanning?
Rather than hand airbrushing, we offer automated spray booths that apply an even, natural-looking tan in complete privacy.
How long until I see my color?
You may enjoy your first lukewarm rinse after 6 to 8 hours. Your color continues to develop for a full 24 hours, so your glow will keep deepening after that first rinse.
May I enjoy a sun session and a spray tan in the same visit?
Absolutely, and we recommend it. We call it the Double Dip: begin with your UV session, then step into the spray booth. Pairing sun and spray more than doubles your color, for a deeper, more luminous glow.
Which shade is right for me?
Our team is delighted to help. Venetian, a violet base for a natural olive tone, flatters fair skin and light or cool undertones. Dark, a bronze base for deeper, richer color, complements medium to dark skin with warm or neutral undertones.
